The AprilAire 800 steam humidifier uses a canister that needs to be replaced. The S2020 has a reservoir tank that should be cleaned annually. The S2020 is mounted into the ductwork of the HVAC system, whereas the AprilAire 800 is mounted on the outside of the ductwork.
