The GVD is a self-cleaning unit. The gate on the GVD units has a flex seal that scrapes the pipe to help keep the pipe clear as the gate rotates through the pipe assembly.
Damper screeching
Your damper works properly and is the right size for a 6-inch flue that sits atop a Weil McLain flue hood. The issue is when it opens up it screeches like metal on metal and is very annoying. When it closes there is very little to no sound. I have looked inside and nothing is out of shape or distorted. It seems to me the slit edges of the internal damper are tight causing the screech. Is this normal for the flue damper to make such a screech? If no, how can I resolve tis noise.
