The GVD should not make any noise when the damper is either fully open or fully closed. If you are experiencing a noise issue, then that could be caused by some bleed voltage from the boiler to the GVD.
Should 0a GVD make any sound when the boiler is off? Mine, a new install, is making an intermittant humming sound.
It works fine. Only the noise, which is not loud, concerns me. This is when the boileer is off because the thermostat is satisfied.
